GPP Crusade No 8
Finally two days before the end of the month I am sharing my cheap tricks as a first time participant in GPP Street Team Crusade - My husband would be the first to tell you I am not known as the most thrifty person, but in the studio, I have a few tried and trues. I once bought a metre of this tacky plastic lace with a daisy flower pattern on it, it was cheap and nasty, but I don't know what I did without it! It appears in tons of my artwork in some very subtle ways, in fact one a fellow artist and friend whenever I show a finished piece of work has been known to be somewhat disappointed if the dirty old piece of plastic lace has not been included! I use it to stamp, stencil, layer - you name it this piece of plastic lace has been there! Champagne corks are great stamps and it gives you a valid excuse for a glass of champagne! Old felt tip markers for drawing in wet paint and who could go past the paddle pop stick and cardboard scraps for scooping and moving paints - I particularly liked these when I screen printed. The green scape is a remnant of a garden kneeling mat that I used to mount my rubber stamps, I technique learned from Michelle , the mats we have here are textured and tough as nails, the surface of which is perfect for creating texture. Lets not forget the good old paper Doyle and the old empty paper roll - go wild on a budget!
Megan! So glad to have you join the crusade! Love seeing your Cheap Tricks...you'll have people around the globe scrambling to find that plastic lace now :) The doilies pull double duty don't they? Use as stencil and as collage material. The paper towel roll is very clever. And I almost forgot about the cork stamps - your little fleur-de-lis is precious. Thanks for sharing!!!

Hi Megan,
You have some great ideas there!! I believe I may have some cheap plastic lace somewhere in the linen press that I bought on a whim years ago and have never used. LOL I am going to drag it out and have a play. Thank you for the inspiration.
Love Coby
